2013 Coaching Staff
RMRC's Program Coordinator John Dundon, the Program committee, and our new head coach Nat Jackson are in the process of finalizing all RMRC's coaches for 2013. Here is what has been arranged to date. Please review the information that follows. Please contact John Dundon with questions at programs@rockymountainrowing.org.
Head Coach and Competitive Program Coach - Nat Jackson
Nat's resume of accomplishments at RMRC, as well as other rowing clubs across Canada as a competitive rower and exercise physiologist, precede him.
- Nat has a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology and Nutrition from Colorado State University, where he published research in training interventions and sport performance.
- He started rowing in 1992, following a number of years competing in sprint canoe/kayak and dragon boat racing at both the national and international level.
- He began as a novice coach in Vancouver, Canada, and went on to become the varsity head coach of the women’s crew at McGill University in Montreal.
- In 2005, he began a three-year stint coaching at RMRC, culminating in the club’s 6th place finish at the US Masters National Championships in 2007.
- He also worked individually with rowers, including 2012 Olympic gold medalist Taylor Ritzel.
Novice Program Coach - Elizabeth C. Moore
Liz's Coaching Experience/Resume is quite extensive. Suffice it to say she is well qualified & excited to coach the novice program. Her experience includes the following:
Collegiate Program
The 2013 Collegiate Program is almost upon us.
The focus of the RMRC college program is on small boats (singles, doubles, pairs). A flip test will be the pre-requisite to rowing a single. The goal of the summer program is for the student rower to become accomplished at rowing small boats. In addition to practice days on the water, there will be the opportunity (but not the requirement) for 3 local races this summer, RMRC's Row the Rockies, the Boulder Sprints and the Lake Dillon Challenge in Frisco. Also optional but strongly recommended is a clinic at Lake Dillon in mid-July. Boats are trailered to Lake Dillon and the students get some additional coaching up there from Marika Page and Greg Ruckman (ColoradoRowing.com). It's a group lesson with an additional cost of about $35.00.
Jim Erwin is an assistant rowing coach at University of Denver and coaching the college program in 2013.

Cost for the 2013 Collegiate program is $100. Sign-up on the Registration page.
There are a couple of extra costs beyond the $100 program fee which includes membership to RMRC and coaching. Student rowers will need state park passes (about $60) and the Cherry Creek Reservoir sticker ($3.00) which can be purchased at either the west or east entrance to the park. The first day, it is recommended that they purchase an $8.00 day pass (self-service kiosks at either entrance) to avoid getting a ticket from a park ranger if they can't purchase the annual park pass ahead of time.
Novice Program
The 2013 Novice Program is almost upon us. Start date is 5/13/13
This is a beginning rowing program, geared toward individuals who have completed Learn-to-Row sessions with RMRC (Registration by individuals who have participated in LTR programs elsewhere and do NOT have subsequent rowing experience needs to be brought to the attention of the coaches.) Novices will solidify knowledge of rowing safety, boat handling and usage while working on skill advancement in sweep rowing and sculling. As the season progresses, the novice rowers will gain more autonomy during coached sessions. The program will start on Monday May 13th and meet every Monday and Wednesday morning at 5:45 AM through August. The cost is $150 which is a slight decrease from last season.
Apply for RMRC membership (required) on the Membership page.
Sign-up on the Programs Registration page.
The Program's Coach is Liz Moore.
The Program's Captain is Debbie Tepper
Please feel welcome to contact either the Coach or the Captain directly with questions or comments.
