Comments:
14 people signed up to Learn to Row, not all paid.
Boathouse
Coordinator/ Peter
Docks are in.
Combo to change some time next week.
Combo will be available on the website. To be coordinated
with Karen.
Coxboxes need to be charged. And Speed Coaches.
Headlamps are also available. But should be reserved only
for club boats. Some have bulbs out. Equipment committee to oversee.
Q: launch to be accompanying boats in times of limited
visibility? No.
Program Coordinator/
Grace
Jim E was not taking pay. He purchased flotation suit (for
coxswains) along with CPR certification last year and level II coaching from
this year, and would like reimbursement.
How should funds be allocated? Policy?
Should Jim be reimbursed? Level II coaching certification
$150, Suit $280, $50 CPR, $29.95 Colorado boater safety.
Motion to reimburse
Jim for flotation suit voted and passed unanimously.
Discussion to mandate coaches have CPR through level III.
Coaching Certification as required by USRowing. Time has run
out for certification for this season.
Boater safety required by USRowing for all coaches, park
does not require it.
On both points: recommend coaches do it and club will
reimburse them. An offer but not requirement. Motion voted and passed.
Q: Can Marika provide private lessons and coaching with club
boats? We would have to pay the park their share. 10% of fees. We should get
something for use of our equipment. Discussion that the fees should probably
flow through the club to assure club liability alleviation. And to track park’s
cut. Needs to be priced so there is no competitive conflict of interest, which
could cut into our club income. It would be good to offer latecomers another
learn to row option. Whatever decision should be made to accommodate any
individual coach.
If the website says private lessons available, 10% goes to
the park.
Motion: we’d like to have candidates in our program.
Otherwise, she should teach on her own equipment.
We will watch and see what kind of money this brings in and
adjust the terms accordingly.
MOTION:
Private Coaching is still considered a club function.
Requirement: candidates become RMRC members. Before
undertaking lessons.
Coach responsible to get the 10% to the Park via the club
monthly. Treasurer passes the Park portion through.
Coach must arrange for access to launch availability .
Voting: passed.
Program discussion
Rachel: Suggests 2 programs running concurrently with people
on water M-F. Rotations by equipment. 2 launches at the same time. Would work
if beginners and intermediates are combined. Everyone gets more days.
Marika’s schedule includes an absent period.
Newer schedule does the best it can to consider many
demands.
Published workouts could help rowers prepare for specific
regatta. Could be set up on a countdown timeline.
Club could repost workouts that were already paid for…
After protracted discussion, president asked to move on and
let a plan evolve.
Learn to Row / Karen
There are candidates for each session ($250 for 8 hours of
instruction) 14 signed up.
Volunteers all set up with a few exceptions, coxswains
needed
$5500 income projected at this point
Last year: 6 people per session, 4 sessions. Half joined.
Tom M: Motion for a first-year
discount of $150 for everyone taking a lesson who wants to join the club. Presented
as a coupon upon completion of lessons. Voted and passed unanimously.
Mark Lodmill has a group interested in 1 day sweep Learn To
Row. 10-12 members of Cross Fit . Karen put together proposal she gave him and
is waiting for his review before presenting it to the board. Looking for coach
as well.
Richard: JT putting together corporate learn to row and will
look over that when it is submitted for dovetailing with Mark’s initiative.
Volunteer /Gail

Rachel Griffin.
Row The Rockies/ Kati
on behalf of Karen
Recommends the club separate transportation people from
setup people.
Jessica is expecting. Wants to handle coordination. But will
not be a member. Needs website access. She has to be covered. Recommendation:
provide Gift membership.
Moved to give her
membership. Passed.
Kati:[O2]
Looking for cheaper production t-shirts. 80 people at RTR last year. We had 120
shirts printed, for sales and volunteers.
Sprints: Checks lost in the mail. Christine took cash and
signed check. Email from Jessica from 3/29 to be circulated among club requesting
those involved to stop payment and reissue their checks.
Safety Coordinator:
Steve
Wants to coordinate the 15-minute new rower boathouse safety
orientation around Saturday Club rows.
7:30-8:00 would work.
Cold water rules discussion: Current rules: Water temp below
45F, all boats need a launch.
Regardless of air temp. Broadcast via email and newsletter.
Suggestion:
Website needs link to CCkPark water temp.
28 pfd’s. Currently in the club.
Charge kits needed. Can be had relatively inexpensively from
Bicycle Village.
Motion made: change
policy from launch at 45 or less to minimum of 4 oars on water below 44
degrees, without a launch. No single or pairs. They can go out on the water
with a launch only. Gail seconded. Passed.
Treasurer

proposed by Katie. Voted unanimously.
